About Us and Our Program
Mission Statement:
Our mission to promote and empower young athletes by providing the necessary resources and infrastructure in order to compete at a more competitive level. To cultivate an attitude of excellence while developing ones full potential.

Program:
Eastern Hockey Academy is a unique hockey program that offers comprehensive training and skill development to supplement and compliment a player’s current regimen. EHA assesses each player via video analysis in order to identify their strengths, weaknesses, athletic ability and hockey knowledge. We then design an individualized program to maximize a player’s full potential, thereby giving them a cutting edge advantage. Players will learn how to consolidate strengths, rectify weakness, prepare for competition, as well as handle competitive pressure. Portfolios will be kept on each player to monitor their progress and communicate/network with other coaches, organizations, schools and scouts.

Curriculum:
Breakouts, checking, dekes, passing, penalty kills, power plays, positioning, power skating (proper stride mechanics, stride efficiency), transitions, edge manipulation/balance, shooting and stick handling.

Strength & Conditioning Program:
Strength is an important physical component for all hockey players.  Offensive and defensive plays are short but very intense.  Strength and speed can mean the difference between winning and losing the puck.  Programs are developed with the ultimate goal of having players feel the difference when they step on the ice.  Whether it’s more power and explosion in their stride, or more strength along the boards and in the corners, or more velocity and speed on their shot, players will see the direct relationship between what they do off the ice and how it translates to their game on the ice.

Warm Ups:
Many coaches and athletes are not well versed or knowledgeable in which techniques should be incorporated into a pre-game warm up.  One common mistake is the use of static stretching.   This form of stretching requires players to hold a stretch for a period of time.  Practicing this form of stretching prior to a game reduces a player’s ability to produce power and increases the risk of injury.  To avoid these issues players will learn proper warm up techniques through active stretching.

Nutritional Program:
Eating well sets the tone for a player’s performance both on the ice and in life.  Proper nutrition is a key component of competitive hockey.  Players will learn nutritional strategies, the importance of hydration and how to prepare for pre and post games.

Life Skills Training:
Players learn to work as a team towards a common goal, develop strong communication/listening skills and respect for authority and rules.  Participants also develop self-confidence, patience, positive self-esteem and sportsmanship that will generate to all areas of their lives both on and off the ice
